At Raymond, we have outstanding employees, so we decided to feature some of them on our blog. Jon Sathre is the Technology Infrastructure Manager at Raymond, celebrating 20 years with the company this year. He oversees the on-premises and cloud systems that support how employees create, collaborate, and connect with colleagues and vendors, in addition to providing day-to-day technology support.

What does Raymond’s 90th anniversary mean to you?

Whenever someone asks about my employer and I mention Raymond has been around since 1936, the reaction is always ‘amazement’. Not many companies can say that — and I’m proud to be a part of it.

What’s something people might not realize about what you do?

Working in technology support means we interact with nearly everyone in the company over time. Getting exposure to so many different personalities keeps the workday fresh and interesting.

What makes you proud to work here?

Raymond has a family business style that genuinely cares about its people, and the number of employees who stay here for much of their career proves it. That’s rare, especially for a company of this size.

What’s something people might not know about you?

During and after college, I worked for the University of Minnesota operating heavy equipment — skid loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, articulating loaders, and farm tractors. As a young guy it was fun, but surprisingly stressful on the body.

First memory at Raymond:

One of my first projects was helping convert part of the warehouse into an on-premises data center, complete with enterprise servers, battery backup, a diesel generator, climate control, and fire suppression. Before that, file servers were running out of the IT office itself. Taking the company’s entire technology foundation up a notch was a memorable way to start!

Best part of your workday:

8 AM, when everyone in I.T. is in the office. That’s when the fun starts.

We are thrilled to announce that Raymond Project Engineer Kii Holloway was honored with the Paramount Award at the 2025 WWCCA Women in Construction Awards, a distinction reserved for those who “go above and beyond to achieve service excellence.”

The WWCCA Paramount award recognizes individuals who consistently deliver outstanding customer and client service, build meaningful relationships, and ensure satisfaction across every touchpoint.

Kii Holloway is a standout leader in her role for Raymond’s Southern California region, managing every stage of a project with care, from initial planning through close-out. She actively collaborates with general contractors, coordinates meetings, and stays closely aligned with field operations to ensure all aspects of a project are seamlessly executed. Her impressive portfolio includes leading work on some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the industry, such as two NFL stadiums, one NBA arena, an NHL minor-league stadium, and an 80-story hotel, among others. Above all, Kii brings passion, dedication, and rigor to her work, qualities that shine through in every project she leads.

We are also proud of our other Raymond nominees, Ashley Barredo, D’wana Smith, and Heidi Phillips, whose contributions and excellence continue to elevate our team and industry.

At Raymond, we have outstanding employees, so we decided to feature some of them on our blog. Our next Employee Spotlight features Jace Johnson, Project Manager in our San Diego region. Recently promoted, Jace is currently overseeing two Raymond projects: Legoland Big Shop in Carlsbad with Clark Construction and Kimball Highland in National City with Consolidated Contracting. Jace began his journey in the construction industry after earning a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Boise State University (Go Broncos!).

What do you like most about working in construction? What I like most about working in construction is the camaraderie; working alongside coworkers and other companies to achieve the shared goal of delivering a safe and successful project.

Three words to describe Raymond: Loyal, Motivating, Elite.

What has been your favorite project with Raymond and why? My favorite project with Raymond was SDSU Aztec Stadium (Snapdragon Stadium). It was my first project after being hired, and as someone who grew up playing sports, it was really exciting to be part of building a college stadium. It’s a staple in the San Diego community and provided me with valuable learning experiences to kick off my career at Raymond.

What’s the best thing about your job? Both the people I get to work with and being a part of challenging projects.

What is the most challenging part of your job? The most challenging part of my job is when multiple tasks need to be completed at the same time. We had an in-office training a while ago on prioritizing what is important versus urgent, and it’s been really helpful in managing those situations.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you? Control what you can control.

What advice do you have for prospective Raymond candidates? Raymond is the best company to work for. If you get the opportunity, take it!

What inspires you? My wife, Francesca (we just got married!), and my family. I try to improve a little everyday and strive to be the best version of myself.

Favorite thing to do? I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going for walks on the beach with my wife, playing sports like basketball and golf, listening to music, and staying active at the gym.

What show/book are you currently binging? Reading the Red Rising series and watching Survivor.

What music artist do you never get tired of? Classic Rock – Some of my favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Beatles, Gregg Allman, Jimi Hendrix, and Neil Young.

Before working at Raymond, did you have any other interesting jobs? Before working with Raymond, I worked as an EMT and Volunteer Firefighter. I experienced a wide range of people and emergencies, and I learned a lot about staying calm under pressure and how to handle people who are under extreme stress.

What are some things you’ve done that everyone should try at least once? Snowboarding/Skiing: “I wouldn’t even call snowboarding a sport. For me it’s just a way of life. It’s a chance to finally shut your brain off and live within the moment.” – Travis Rice (Professional Snowboarder)

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without? One thing I couldn’t live without is competition. I love playing sports, games, cards, trivia. Anything that challenges me and keeps me engaged.

What is the best place you have traveled to and why? The best places I’ve traveled to are Norway and Iceland. My family is Scandinavian, so experiencing my heritage and homeland was incredible. Traveling through the fjords of Norway was breathtaking. Pictures just can’t capture the feeling of being there in person.

What country do you want to visit but haven’t? When I get a chance to go to Europe again, Switzerland and Italy are next on the list.

What meal could you eat every day? Breakfast sandwich – Toast, avocado, bacon, cheese, fried eggs. Hits every time!

What’s your idea of a perfect day? Hit the golf course early, while it’s still cool and calm. Perfect drives, a few clutch putts, and maybe a little friendly competition. Then relax outdoors with family and friends. Maybe a backyard barbecue or poolside hangout, soaking up the sun and good vibes. Then watch a Washington Huskies football game with everyone!

How do you balance your career and your family? My family is all from Washington, so I visit them as much as I can, and they come to San Diego when they get the chance (or when the Seattle rain gets too much)! We also have a close group of friends here in San Diego that I like to call family, which helps me balance work and home life.

At Raymond, we have outstanding employees, so we decided to feature some of them on our blog. Our next Employee Spotlight features Jesse Moore, Senior Estimator/Project Manager in Raymond’s Northern California office. Jesse has built his entire professional career at Raymond, starting out as a stocker/scrapper and steadily working his way up. He spent years in the field as a drywall and lathing apprentice, journeyman, and foreman, before transitioning into leadership and support roles. Over the years, Jesse has served as a warehouse manager, project engineer, and project manager/estimator. Today he holds the role of Senior Estimator and Project Manager, while also contributing as a preconstruction specialist with a focus on business development. Jesse’s career path is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and drive.

We sat down with Jesse to learn more about him and his time at Raymond.

What does a typical day look like for you? My typical day starts early—work hard, get home, spend quality time with my family, and then rest up to do it all again.

What brought you into the construction industry? Right out of high school a neighbor offered me a job starting as a stocker/scrapper with the Drywall Lathers’ Union of Sacramento.

What do you like most about working in construction? One of the things I enjoy most about working in construction is the sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. There’s nothing like looking back at a structure and knowing I had a hand in building it. I also value the teamwork and trust that is built on the job site—it feels like a second family.

What have been the most significant changes that you have seen over your years in the industry? Over the years, I’ve seen the construction industry embrace technology—from digital blueprints to project management apps. Safety standards have also come a long way, and that’s made a big difference on the job. Overall, things are faster, smarter, and more efficient than they used to be.

Three words to describe Raymond: Consistent, Evolving, Opportunity.

What have been your favorite projects with Raymond and why? San Jose State Campus Village, 10th & Market, and Trinity Place Phase 3. I was able to meet and work alongside the best in the industry.

Trinity Place Phase 3 | 2017 | San Francisco | Swinerton Builders | Raymond performed sheathing, shaftwall, nonstructural framing, building insulation, GFRP, gypsum board assemblies, and prefabrication of drywall shapes and framing systems

What current projects are you working on with Raymond? I’m currently serving as the project manager for our Gilead project with Suffolk Construction and supporting the SMF Pedestrian Walkway project with Balfour Beatty Construction. In addition to project management, I assist with estimating across various efforts.

Gilead | Current Project | Foster City | Suffolk Construction | Raymond is performing fireproofing, interior framing and gypsum board assemblies, acoustical ceilings, linear metal ceilings, insulation, Veneer plastering, and cementitious interior wall panels

What’s the best thing about your job? The people I get to work with every day.

What is your proudest moment at Raymond? Some of my proudest moments have come from working alongside team members across all levels at Raymond—from apprentices to executive leadership.

What is the most challenging part of your job? The most challenging, and most rewarding, part of my job is balancing multiple priorities, problem solving under pressure, and coordinating across teams.

How would you describe your career progression at Raymond? My career at Raymond has been a continuous journey of growth and opportunity. I’ve been fortunate to advance through a variety of roles from the field to the office, with each one building on the last and helping me develop both professionally and personally. The support and trust I’ve received along the way have been key to my progression, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you? One quote that’s always resonated with me is, “Fish for a man, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.” It reflects how I view leadership and mentorship in construction. I’ve been fortunate to learn from others throughout my career, and now I try to pass that knowledge on—helping others grow just like I did.

What advice do you have for prospective Raymond candidates? Be open to learning and take advantage of every opportunity. Raymond values hard work, adaptability, and teamwork—so showing up with commitment and a positive attitude goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to start at the ground level, as each role teaches important skills that build a solid foundation for growth. Raymond supports those who are eager to develop their skills and take on new challenges, so stay curious and keep pushing yourself.

What do you like doing when you’re not at work? Spending time with my wife, Heather, and two children, Leanne and Wyatt. We love going to Disneyland and Club 33!

What music artist do you never get tired of? I enjoy a wide variety of music artists, and over time my taste has grown to appreciate classic genres like blues, jazz, funk, and country. That said, I still love listening to punk rock and heavy metal, which have been a big part of my musical journey.

What inspires you? My family and those who I work alongside with at Raymond.

What is the best place you have traveled to and why? Eastern Caribbean, I love their weather during the hot months.

What country do you want to visit but haven’t? Japan.

What meal could you eat every day? Anything at Disneyland’s Club 33.

What’s your idea of a perfect day? Being with my family.

How do you balance your career and your family? Balancing my career and family is a priority for me. I make sure to set aside quality time with my loved ones whenever I can, whether it’s during evenings or weekends. Having a supportive family and good communication helps me manage the demands of the job while staying connected at home. It’s all about finding that rhythm and being fully present, whether I’m on the job site or with my family.

Raymond recently held a Charity Day in our Southern California region, bringing employees together to give back to the community through hands-on volunteer work and acts of kindness. The day was split into two impactful experiences.

The first group boarded the Do Good Bus, an organization that combines team-building with community service. Their destination was the Orangewood Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting young people transitioning from foster care to independence. Our volunteers spent the day cleaning, painting, and completing repairs at one of Orangewood’s living facilities—making a difference while building connections with their teammates and having fun along the way.

The second group stayed onsite and created Kynd Kits to support various causes. Volunteers assembled:

  • Cancer Care Kits filled with comforting items for patients undergoing treatment, to be donated to nonprofit organization PIH Health, serving residents in Los Angeles and Orange County.

  • Fidget Blankets for children in hospitals, to be donated to PIH Health.

  • Rescue Dog Kits complete with handmade beds and toys for shelter animals, to be donated to nonprofit animal welfare organization Priceless Pets, located in Costa Mesa, California.

Each kit was designed to bring joy and support to someone in need.

To close out the day, everyone came together to celebrate their efforts with a visit from a dessert truck—sweetening a day full of generosity and teamwork.

  • Chandler Ewell - Arizona State University

On June 24th and 25th, our interns gathered at Raymond’s Orange headquarters for two days of connection, collaboration, and learning. The visit included team-building activities, presentations on our operations, and opportunities to network with staff from departments across the company.

Beyond the office, interns toured our Biola University project in La Mirada and enjoyed an evening at the Angels vs. Red Sox game—blending professional growth with a bit of fun.

We’re thrilled to support the next generation of industry professionals and look forward to seeing what the rest of the summer holds!

At Raymond, we have outstanding employees, so we decided to feature some of them on our blog. Our next Employee Spotlight features Jessie Falcon, a dedicated Raymond team member for 17 years. As a BIM Job Captain, Jessie plays a key role in turning architectural designs into detailed construction documents, collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams to manage the 3D CAD/BIM workflows.

We sat down with Jessie to learn more about her and her time at Raymond.

What brought you into the construction industry? I worked for an architect and interior designer for three years before Raymond. I wanted to know how a building was constructed from the ground up.

What do you like most about working in construction? I learn something new from every project I work on, and I love the friendships made with the project managers, foremen, and especially general contractor and trade partners.

What has been your favorite project with Raymond and why? YouTube Theater at SoFi Stadium. It was the most complex project for me, and I am very proud of that… and I love concerts!

What current projects are you working on with Raymond? A large out-of-state stadium project and Pepperdine The Mountain in Malibu, California.

Raymond is performing framing, drywall, and plaster for Clark Construction on Pepperdine The Mountain, which consists of a basketball arena and recreational building.

What’s the best thing about your job? The best part of my job is contributing to projects—like universities, hospitals, and arenas—that will have a lasting, positive impact on people’s lives and communities for years to come.

What is the most challenging part of your job? The initial uncertainty at the start of each project, when everything is still taking shape!

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you? You will make mistakes, and it is all part of the process of growing up and fine tuning who you are as a person.

What advice do you have for prospective Raymond candidates? Be ready to dive in and learn fast! You’ll have a team that’s got your back and plenty of chances to grow.

What do you like doing when you’re not at work? Sketching, charcoal drawings, and wood burning. I also love to play my piano and sing while my son plays the guitar (we do tons of Green Day songs haha), and karaoke.

Favorite thing to do? I like going to music festivals and dancing to live music. I like to let my inner child out and connect with other like-minded people. I always come back from a festival with new friendships and having learned something new about myself.

What music artist do you never get tired of? I got tons! but my top are CloZee, Feist, Beirut, INZO and Svdden Death.

What inspires you? My kids inspire me. As they grow, I grow too—and I strive to become a better version of myself every day, so I can lead by example through the way I live.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without? My kids, and cheese!

What country do you want to visit but haven’t? Ireland and New Zealand.

What meal could you eat every day? Grilled cheese sandwiches (but not mine, I am a horrible cook, haha).

What is something most people are often surprised to learn about you? That I talk when you really get to know me, and that I think I am really funny 😊
